Unidentified dark sculpture

A dark sculpture, capable of channeling Force lightning, was in the possession of Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith, while he was also serving as Sheev Palpatine, the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. This sculpture was located within the Chancellor's office on the planet of Coruscant. Sidious utilized it to contain his Force lightning, thereby preventing any destruction to the office space whenever he privately unleashed his destructive powers.

Description

This dark sculpture, crafted from a black stone material, possessed the ability to ground Force lightning, a dark side Force power. Additionally, it could reflect any stored negative emotions back to the individual who cast them.

History

Darth Sidious used the sculpture to ground his Force lightning.

The sculpture was owned by Darth Sidious, who was secretly a Dark Lord of the Sith and publicly the Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine of the Galactic Republic, by 22 BBY. It was kept in his office within the Senate Office Building on Coruscant, the Republic's capital planet. The sculpture served to ground the dark side energies and stop any damage to his office whenever Sidious, in a private fit of rage, unleashed Force lightning.

During the early stages of the Clone Wars between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a conflict orchestrated by Sidious himself, he vented his anger on the sculpture. This occurred when he discovered a faction within the Trade Federation – a corporation under his influence – that aimed to restore the Neimoidian-led organization's image by removing Nute Gunray, the Viceroy of the Trade Federation and a pawn of Sidious. By allowing the sculpture to reflect his pent-up hate and anger, Sidious reminded himself of his own resilience before contacting Dooku, his apprentice, to set in motion plans to handle the rebellious faction.

Behind the scenes

The dark sculpture made an appearance in Queen's Hope, a young-adult novel published in 2022 by E. K. Johnston. This novel is the concluding book in a trilogy that centers around Padmé Amidala as both Queen and Senator.
