Unidentified Duros (South Apartments)

A Duros resided in the South Apartments on Taris, sharing the space with his comrade Ixgil. Both individuals belonged to the Duros species and were frequently subjected to harassment from Sith patrols. At one juncture, the Sith apprehended Ixgil's friend, detaining him within the local Sith base. Eventually, he was liberated by Revan.

Biography

Following the crash landing of an escape pod carrying Revan and Carth Onasi on Taris, the pair sought shelter in a derelict apartment. This apartment was situated in the same building as the residence of the Duros Ixgil and his friend, who was also a member of the same species. After enduring constant harassment from Sith patrols for two consecutive days, Ixgil's patience reached its limit. He confronted one of the patrols, only to be shot and killed by a Sith soldier.

The patrol subsequently engaged Onasi and Revan in combat, with the same Sith soldier accusing them of being "Republic Fugitives." Ixgil's friend aided Onasi and Revan in the ensuing battle, assisting them in eliminating the Sith soldier and his droid companions. After the skirmish, the Duros expressed his gratitude to Onasi and Revan for their assistance, before proceeding to remove Ixgil's body, along with the Sith corpses, to safeguard Revan.

However, the Sith apprehended the Duros while he was performing this task and subsequently imprisoned him within their military base. Revan later discovered and freed him during his search for the Taris Launch Codes, along with his companions. The deceased Ixgil's friend voiced uncertainty regarding Revan's presence in the base, but advised Revan that he followed him in escaping from the base.

Behind the scenes

Within Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, during the apartment encounter with the Sith patrol, the Duros is immune to enemy attacks, yet can still be targeted, potentially leading them to clutch their side following the altercation if subjected to prolonged fire. The Duros might also brandish a sword during the conflict, although they may also attempt to engage the Sith patrol unarmed.

Upon the player's initial conversation with the Duros following the defeat of the Sith patrol in the apartment, the Duros conveys gratitude for the assistance. However, while two of the three subsequent dialogue choices have no effect on the player's alignment, the player has the option to acquire dark-side points by issuing threats of brutality towards the Duros. In response, the apprehensive Duros attempts to clarify their statements, despite having uttered nothing offensive. Even if the player chooses to lash out, the Duros cannot be provoked into combat.

When the player encounters this Duros within the Sith base, a minor puzzle involving deactivating a series of panels must be resolved to secure their release, which rewards the player with light-side points. Conversely, Revan possesses the ability to set all the panels to "terminate," resulting in the Duros's demise and the acquisition of dark-side points for the player.
