A Duros male named Ixgil made his home within the South Apartments located on the Outer Rim planet of Taris during the time of the Jedi Civil War. The year 3956 BBY saw a raid on these apartments conducted by forces belonging to Darth Malak's Sith Empire. Ixgil voiced his displeasure with the actions of the Sith, which resulted in his immediate death when the Human leader of the Sith raiding party shot him. This event was witnessed by both Republic soldier Carth Onasi and the amnesiac Sith Lord Revan, who then proceeded to defeat the Sith. After this confrontation, Ixgil's friend concealed Ixgil's body to prevent the authorities from finding out what happened.
During the era of the Jedi Civil War, Ixgil, a Duros, shared a residence with his friend in the South Apartments of the Upper City on the Outer Rim world Taris. As part of their campaign against the Galactic Republic, the Sith Empire under the command of Darth Malak, invaded and took control of the planet. In 3956 BBY, the Republic cruiser named Endar Spire was ambushed over Taris upon its arrival in the Taris system. While the cruiser was ultimately destroyed, some troops managed to escape to the surface of the ecumenopolis via escape pods. Among these survivors were soldier Carth Onasi and the amnesiac Sith Lord Revan, who had implanted memories making him believe he was a Republic soldier. The pair sought shelter in the South Apartments of the Upper City after their crash landing, hoping to avoid detection by the Sith.

The Sith imposed a planet-wide quarantine and initiated a search for Jedi Padawan Bastila Shan, who had also escaped from the Endar Spire, to prevent her from escaping. During their occupation, Sith soldiers frequently conducted raids and searches of the apartments, much to the dismay of the residents. Several days after the battle occurred above Taris, the apartments were once again raided by a Human soldier accompanied by two Sentinel droids. Ixgil's complaint about this intrusion led to the Human becoming enraged and shooting him three times in the chest, resulting in his death.
Revan and Onasi witnessed this act and successfully defeated the Sith raiding party, thereby saving Ixgil's friend. Following the confrontation, Ixgil's friend expressed his gratitude and lamented Ixgil's decision to speak out against his killers. To prevent any investigation into the incident, which would have had severe repercussions for everyone involved, he concealed the bodies of both Ixgil and the Sith.
Being a Duros male, Ixgil possessed blue-green skin, red eyes, and a somewhat hunched physique. He was willing to openly criticize the Sith and their disruptive behavior, even though this could have led to his arrest, injury, or, as it turned out, his death. Despite the Humanocentric attitudes prevalent among the population, which often prevented non-Humans from living there, he resided in the Upper City. While he could understand Galactic Basic, Ixgil primarily spoke in Durese.
Ixgil's attire consisted of a mauve and white tunic, matching pants, and a black belt.
Ixgil makes an appearance as a non-playable character in the 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which was developed by BioWare. His dialogue is presented during a cutscene from the perspective of the player character, Revan. Regardless of the player character's gender or alignment, the cutscene, and consequently Ixgil's demise, is unavoidable.
In the PC version of the game, the Sith soldier's spoken dialogue in the cutscene differs slightly from the subtitles. In one instance, the subtitles read "Okay you alien scum," while the voice actor clearly says, "Right you alien scum." In another instance, the subtitles read "Hey, what's this?," but the spoken dialogue is simply "What's this?" The original Xbox version features a different voice recording where the dialogue and subtitles match. This article assumes the spoken dialogue of the PC version is correct.
