Unidentified Endor arachnid

An arachnid took up residence on the forest moon of Endor. This creature displayed a segmented body, blue fur, four clawed legs, and a series of yellow markings along its back. Furthermore, the creature was equipped with two yellow eyes, four pointed [teeth](/article/tooth/legends], and the ability to project globs of webbing from its mouth. One such specimen, with a taste for Ewoks, was known to inhabit a desert region surrounding Endor's Cavern of Broken Dreams.

In the year 3 ABY, this arachnid posed a threat to the Ewok Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, who had journeyed to the Cavern in an attempt to coax her friend, Wicket Wystri Warrick, out of his sulking. The arachnid emerged from the cave and gave chase to the Ewok toward a nearby chasm, an endeavor aided by the meddling of a lucksprite. Despite the arachnid's success in trapping Kneesaa within an orb-web, a misfortune partly orchestrated by the lucksprite's intervention, the Ewoks ultimately prevailed by dislodging a stone through the web, sending the creature plummeting into the depths below.

Biology and appearance

The creature approaches its entangled prey.

This arachnid creature exhibited a segmented physique, characterized by blue coloration and hairy texture, divided into distinct head, thorax, and abdomen regions. The abdomen, large and ovoid in shape, displayed yellow markings along its dorsal surface. A tail-like tuft of lighter-colored hair extended from its posterior. Four limbs protruded from the thorax, each terminating in three claws. The forward legs consisted of three pale blue segments, while the hind legs comprised only two segments; the initial segment of each was adorned with tufts of hair.

The head segment, also predominantly blue in color, was shaped by two large eye sockets that dominated the upper portion of its face. Its prominent yellow eyes, housing black irises, were positioned on either side of a tuft of light-colored hair, situated between them and extending towards the crown of its head. The creature possessed a jawed [mouth](/article/mouth-legends] containing at least four teeth—two on each of its upper and lower jaws. Its size exceeded that of Ewoks.

Behavior

A specific arachnid made its home within a desert cave known as the Cavern of Broken Dreams on the forest moon of Endor. The creature displayed predatory tendencies, actively pursuing native species such as Ewoks and responding to their vocalizations. The animal emitted snarling or hissing sounds and demonstrated the ability to ascend vertical surfaces, such as cliffs. It projected yellow webbing from its mouth, forming a sticky spiral orb-web used to ensnare other beings.

History

During 3 ABY, the arachnid was present within the Cavern it called home. It remained there until it detected the distressed cries of the local Ewok Princess Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, who had arrived to uplift her friend Wicket Wystri Warrick from a state of melancholy.

The sizable quadruped emerged instead of Wicket, startling the defenseless Kneesa and prompting her to retreat towards her companions, Teebo and Latara. As the latter two Ewoks approached Kneesa, the arachnid impeded their progress with a swift burst of webbing, which expanded into an orb-web, blocking their path. Unfazed, the creature cornered Kneesa at the edge of a nearby chasm, at which point a mischievous lucksprite intervened, causing Kneesa to drop her lasso—her only means of defense.

Having lost her lasso, Kneesa became entangled in another of the creature's orb-webs and cried out for assistance. Wicket then emerged from the cavern's entrance and initiated a plan to rescue the Ewok princess in distress. As the arachnid descended the canyon wall towards its captive prey, Wicket lassoed a nearby rock formation, creating a makeshift tightrope over the web. The arachnid noticed the nearby Ewok and attempted to foil his plan with another blast of webbing. The attack was partially successful; Wicket fell into the massive web but seized the opportunity to retrieve Kneesa and rebound towards the tightrope.

The arachnid, disoriented by the resulting vibration of its web, continued to pursue the Ewok pair. The lucksprite once again manipulated the Ewoks' fortune, causing the tightrope to lose tension and swing directly into the arachnid. While the lucksprite was thwarted by the other Ewoks, Wicket and Kneesa landed on the cliffside, where they dislodged a boulder onto the creature, sending it plummeting into the canyon.

Behind the scenes

The arachnid made appearances in flashback sequences during "Just My Luck," the eighteenth episode of the second season of the animated series Ewoks, which was broadcast on November 22, 1986.
