Unidentified Galactic Triumvirate starfighter

In the year 138 ABY, Jao Assam, an Imperial Knight, piloted a specific type of starfighter. This starfighter was associated with the Galactic Federation Triumvirate. The starfighter had a pair of angled, horizontal wings. In addition, it had two vertical S-foils at the rear, which rested horizontally when the fighter was not in use. The color of the fighter was gray, and it also included an astromech droid in an astromech socket. W3 was the name of Assam's chosen droid.

Assam possessed this fighter at a secondary communications array outpost located within the Ithori system. He then piloted it to the Carreras system as part of a search for the missing Imperial Knight, Yalta Val. Upon his arrival aboard a Shifalan patrol ship, Shifalan guards arrested him. These guards were acting under the orders of Darth Wredd, a Sith who was masquerading as Val. Assam managed to escape using his fighter, evading pursuit from Carreras starfighters, before eventually landing on Carreras Minor. There, he allied himself with a group that included Ania Solo, a junk dealer; Sauk, an engineer; and AG-37, an IG-series droid. He then loaded his fighter onto AG-37's freighter. The group had in their possession an Imperial communications droid which contained the coordinates for the planet Mala, where Wredd was holding Val as a prisoner.

When the Shifalan patrol ship captured the freighter and transported it to the Carreras G51 communications array, Assam's fighter was placed in a hangar. Darth Wredd battled and seriously wounded Sauk, AG-37, and Assam, before departing for Mala in a Carreras fighter. However, Solo pursued him in Assam's fighter and successfully liberated the captive Val. She then made her way back to the communications array, which was in the process of crashing onto Mala, resulting in Assam's fighter crash-landing and skidding within the hangar. Solo then rescued her injured companions and boarded them onto AG-37's freighter, making their escape. Later, Assam experienced a Force vision showing the death of his Empress, Marasiah Fel, and this vision included several of the Triumvirate starfighters as well as TIE Predators.

Behind the scenes

A number of these starfighters are shown on the phantom variant cover of Legacy (2013) 1. This is a tribute to the X-wing fighters found on the original poster for the 1977 film Star Wars.
