A scientist, who identified as male, was employed by the Imperial organization. He participated in an assignment to the planet of Ilum, situated in the Unknown Regions, approximately 7 BBY. Subsequently, after a period of three months, he was assigned to a CCR-class pinnace for a reconnaissance operation focused on distant planets located within the Western Reaches. During an incident where Saw Gerrera's Partisans infiltrated the ship using access protocols generated by Jyn Erso, the scientist engaged Jyn, who hesitated to use lethal force against him. Ultimately, he met his death at the hands of Jari, another member of the Partisans.
