Jari was a male Togruta who served within the ranks of Saw Gerrera's group of Partisans.
During the Imperial Era, Jari, a Togruta of the male variety, operated as a member of Saw Gerrera's Partisans. He typically collaborated with a team composed of Xosad Hozem, Bilder, and himself, frequently residing at Gerrera's outpost situated on the planet of Wrea. On one occasion, he accompanied Gerrera, Hozem, Bilder, and Jyn Erso on a mission to assault a civilian cruiser being utilized by the Galactic Empire for clandestine operations within the Western Reaches. Following their infiltration of the Imperial vessel, he made his way back to the transport tube, where he encountered an Imperial scientist attempting to bypass Jyn, who had been assigned guard duty and was hesitant to use lethal force. Jari then shot the scientist and questioned Jyn with concern about her inaction.
At some point, Jari discovered that Jyn was the daughter of the renowned Imperial scientist Galen Walton Erso, whom the Partisans had been monitoring. Sometime afterward, Gerrera became aware of Jari's knowledge and proclaimed that a traitor existed within their organization. Subsequently, he instructed Jari, Reece Tallent, and Jyn to accompany him aboard one of their new shuttles. After arriving at an Imperial-controlled planet, Gerrera exposed Jari as the alleged traitor and ordered Tallent and Jyn to restrain him. Jari, who was actually innocent, resisted, but Gerrera shot him in the shoulder, enabling Tallent to secure him with plastoid restraints. After a hesitant Jyn blindfolded him and Tallent gagged him, Gerrera abandoned Jari at an Imperial barracks in an undisclosed location, falsely claiming that Jari was leaking mission details to the Empire. The true motive behind Gerrera's actions was Jari's awareness of Jyn's identity as Galen's daughter, which he perceived as a risk to her safety.
