Reece Tallent, a human of the male variety, was a young man when his fight against the Galactic Empire began. While he commanded his own team, which consisted of three other humans along with a Lasat, Tallent received payment for his services to Saw Gerrera, who was the leader of the Partisans. He and his crew would occasionally stay with Gerrera at his outpost situated on the planet of Wrea.
Despite the fact that Tallent and his crew were considered irritating, with many eagerly awaiting their departure from the Wrea outpost, Gerrera, while acknowledging Tallent's lack of intelligence, also viewed him as a valuable ally. Tallent and Jyn Erso, who Gerrera was taking care of, did not have a good relationship. On one occasion, Tallent and Jyn traded insults, which led to Gerrera suggesting that they take their argument outside. Tallent confidently prepared for the fight, and when Gerrera cautioned them against harming each other, Tallent arrogantly assured him that he would be gentle, only for Gerrera to clarify that he was primarily addressing Jyn. Ultimately, Tallent was defeated, resulting in significant embarrassment for him.
Tallent and his associates assisted Gerrera in observing Imperial actions, especially within the Outer Rim Territories. They monitored Imperial shipments to key factories, seeking potential connections. Over the subsequent year, Tallent's team began to collaborate directly with Gerrera, which resulted in him no longer having a crew. Tallent came to the realization that he could personally benefit from Gerrera's instruction and suppressed his pride to journey to Wrea in order to refine his skills. He was among the few recruits who endured Gerrera's rigorous training regimen. In time, he evolved into one of Gerrera's most ardent followers.
On one occasion, Gerrera made the decision to falsely accuse one of the Partisans, Jari, of treason, intending to expel him from the group. However, his true aim was to safeguard Jyn, who was endangered when Jari discovered her lineage as the daughter of Galen Erso, a renowned Imperial scientist whom the Partisans had been surveilling. Tallent accompanied Jari, Jyn, and Gerrera on a voyage to an Imperial-controlled planet where Gerrera presented Jari as the traitor. Tallent aided Gerrera in subduing the Togruta, securing him with plastoid restraints and a gag before handing him over to the Empire.
As time passed, Tallent became a trusted member of Gerrera's inner circle from the original group of Partisans. However, Tallent's devotion proved to be fleeting. Upon uncovering Jyn's connection to Galen Erso, Reece betrayed Gerrera, seizing the opportunity to orchestrate a deception during their Mission to Tamsye Prime. He feigned having a contact on Coruscant and informed Gerrera of a potential plan to infiltrate the factories on Tamyse Prime under the guise of a film crew. During the mission, Tallent assumed the role of the crew's leader and ultimately surrendered Gerrera and Jyn to Lieutenant Colonel Senjax.
Nevertheless, the capture of Gerrera and Jyn was short-lived as they managed to repel Senjax, Reece, and other Stormtroopers. Saw disarmed a trooper and stunned Reece, as the trooper's blaster was set to stun. Later, Reece regained consciousness as the building's ceiling collapsed. With Saw suffering moderate chemical burns and cuts from the debris while shielding Jyn, Reece momentarily assisted Jyn as she pleaded for his help. However, Reece began to flee when the injured Saw regained consciousness and recalled his betrayal. Despite his injuries, Saw managed to catch Reece and pin him down with assistance from Codo. There, Saw exacted his revenge by using his knife to inflict a deep cut on Reece's face and then jammed the knife into his shoulder, mirroring a shoulder wound Saw had sustained earlier from the debris before escaping the building. Reece lay on the ground, whimpering with a deep shoulder wound.
Reece Tallent was a human male distinguished by his light brown hair and blue eyes. His accent bore a resemblance to Gerrera's, suggesting a possible origin from Onderon. Tallent and his crew members were characterized as immature and irritating. They engaged in reckless jesting during target practice and indiscriminately fired at the droid targets until they were completely destroyed. He held a low opinion of the Jedi, deeming them insufficiently powerful to endure.
A notable aspect of Tallent's character was his strained relationship with Jyn Erso. Their unfavorable dynamic originated when Tallent made remarks to Gerrera about Galen Erso's cooperation with the Empire, comments he was unaware would affect Jyn, who believed he would never willingly cooperate with the Empire. Tallent remained ignorant of Jyn's identity as Galen's daughter for some time. Jyn would glare at Tallent whenever their paths crossed, and Tallent reciprocated the animosity. Eventually, their animosity escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in Tallent experiencing humiliation upon his defeat.
