Xosad Hozem was a male Twi'lek who chose to fight against the Galactic Empire during its reign. Hozem was a member of a smugglers group that often visited Wanton Wellspring located on Rajtiri not long after the end of the Clone Wars; this group included Hozem's longtime friend Has Obitt as well as Onderonian freedom fighter Saw Gerrera. Obitt managed to persuade Hozem, along with the rest of the group, to assist him in opposing the Empire's takeover of the independent Salient system within the Corporate Sector. This situation escalated into a large-scale rebellion, and Hozem joined the Partisans in their battle against the forces commanded by Moff Wilhuff Tarkin.
Despite the defeat suffered in the Salient campaign, Hozem avoided capture by the Empire and eventually found Gerrera and his Partisans again at an outpost situated on the planet Wrea. He participated in several missions for the rebel group, but he and others, including Idryssa Barruck, were drawn to the concept of establishing a more expansive rebellion, which led to their departure from the Partisans. He later became a recruiting agent on Skuhl, where he made the acquaintance of Jyn Erso and her partner, Hadder Ponta. In his role as a recruiting agent, he possessed knowledge of the rebellion's Fulcrum agents.
Hozem stood in opposition to the Empire, and beyond his role as a fighter, he also recruited for the growing rebel movement. He collaborated with Gerrera on multiple occasions; however, he was greatly irritated by the rebel leader's habit of only stocking nutritive milk for sustenance, as he had a strong dislike for the beverage and preferred solid food.
