A terrestrial moon, inhabited by a population, existed within the Werta system, which itself was located in the Oriolan sector of the Mid Rim. The Rebel Alliance built a substantial base on this moon during the era of the Galactic Civil War. The Galactic Empire discovered this base not long after it was established.
The Empire, seeing the discovery of the base as a rare and appealing opportunity, meticulously planned an assault on the Werta system moon, despite the possibility that it was a trap set by the Alliance. An Imperial Immobilizer 418 cruiser was deployed to block hyperspace travel both to and from the star system, after which a major attack was launched against the moon where the Rebel base was situated. During this attack, Imperial forces overwhelmed the base's defenses and captured Rebel prisoners.
The 2009 sourcebook Galaxy at War, which was published by Wizards of the Coast for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, mentioned the moon in the Werta system. The moon was part of an adventure seed designed for use with the Star Wars Roleplaying Game in that book. This article operates under the assumption that the scenario plays out as it is described. According to the StarWars.com Online Companion for the 2009 reference work The Essential Atlas, the Werta system, and therefore the moon, was located in grid square J-16.
