A gallery situated on the world of Earth enlisted the services of Doctor Indiana Jones for an expedition to a tropical forest. His mission: locate the mythical "Sasquatch" during the years 1942 and 1943. This creature was, in reality, the Wookiee Chewbacca. Chewbacca, along with his co-pilot, Han Solo, had crash-landed on the planet in the YT-1300 light freighter known as the Millennium Falcon 126 years prior. Sightings had been reported in the three decades leading up to Jones' assignment. Jones embarked on this quest accompanied by his partner Short Round and a local pathfinder.
As they neared the vessel's wreckage, their pathfinder pointed out a footprint belonging to Chewbacca, indicating they were close to the Wookiee's territory. Jones replied that he was pleased, as the gallery wasn't funding them to simply collect footprints. After examining the spacecraft and discovering Solo's osseous remains, Jones terminated the search, opting to leave Chewbacca undisturbed.
The gallery's existence was first revealed in "Into the Great Unknown," a Star Wars Legends comic book story penned by Haden Blackman and brought to life by Dark Horse Comics in the nineteenth edition of Star Wars Tales on May 14, 2004. This comic book is a crossover with the Indiana Jones franchise, where the main character is stated to be working for the National Museum in the April 1981 novelization of Raiders of the Lost Ark by Campbell Black, which is an adaptation of the movie of the same name that was released on June 12, 1981.
