The Paataatus Hiveborn government, under the yoke of the Nikardun species, was governed by the male Prince Prince Militaire of the Paataatus. The Nikardun threatened the prince with death if the Hiveborn did not comply with their demands. However, the arrival of the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk, commanded by the formidable Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, known as "Thrawn," presented an opportunity for the fierce commander to liberate his people from Nikardun oppression.
To deceive the Nikardun, the prince and the Chiss orchestrated a deceptive display of simulated conflict, a "light show" of laserfire, to mask Thrawn's approach to destroy the Nikardun. Under the guise of this staged battle, the Paataatus fighters and the Prince's Paataatus heavy frigate repositioned themselves. Subsequently, Thrawn unleashed a barrage of breacher missiles and starship-disabling plasma spheres upon the Nikardun cruiser, effectively liberating the Hiveborn. In gratitude, the prince militaire conveyed his appreciation to Thrawn and affirmed that the Hiveborn had not forged an alliance with the Vagaari pirates.

As the Prince Militaire, a male of the Paataatus species, he reigned over the Hiveborn government. The Nikardun species, employing their military forces, threatened his life, compelling him to cooperate with them for his survival. The prince commanded a Paataatus heavy frigate within the Nettehi system of the Unknown Regions. This frigate was positioned alongside a Nikardun enhanced cruiser, which housed the Nikardun leaders who were threatening him, as well as Hiveborn forces under Nikardun command.
In approximately 18 BBY, the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk materialized above Nettehi, the homeworld of the Paataatus. Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, "Thrawn," the ship's commander, greeted the prince. The prince, in turn, recognized Thrawn's arrival as a chance to eliminate the Nikardun. Following a simulated conflict conveyed through comm, the prince's forces directed shot at the Springhawk using spectrum lasers at one-tenth power, calibrated to Nettehi's interplanetary dust profile. This attack, though appearing devastating to the Nikardun, inflicted no damage on Thrawn's warship. Thrawn acknowledged this deception and continued the "light show" with his own laserfire.
As the Paataatus fighters and the Chiss exchanged laserfire, the Springhawk launched ship-disabling plasma spheres and breacher missiles at the fighters, trusting the Prince Militaire's strategic acumen to swiftly maneuver his frigate and fighters, ensuring that the Chiss attack would target the Nikardun cruiser instead. The Paataatus leader demonstrated the intelligence Thrawn anticipated, successfully diverting his forces, allowing all of Thrawn's projectiles to disable the Nikardun, leading to their decisive destruction. After the Nikardun were destroyed, the prince assured Thrawn that the Hiveborn had not allied with the Vagaari pirates, answering Thrawn's inquiry. He also remarked that having Thrawn as an ally, rather than an enemy, was an unusual experience, as the Hiveborn had previously faced the senior captain, much to their regret.
The character of Prince Militaire made his debut in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, the second installment of the Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy by Timothy Zahn.
