By the year 10 ABY, Landonis Calrissian, a gambler, crossed paths with a young, unmarried Trianii woman making her formal entrance into society. Hoping to win her favor, Calrissian unwisely challenged Bumblethunk, an Esoomian fighter associated with the Razzi Syndicate. Calrissian was subsequently defeated by the brawler, and the Rybet thief known as "Sticky Fingers" stole the book that would eventually be called the Smuggler's Guide from him. Upon recovering the book, Calrissian included a remark expressing his regret for provoking Bumblethunk, but also stating that the chance to impress the debutante had been too alluring to pass up.
