Ur'kossags

The Ur'kossags were a criminal organization that operated on Nar Shaddaa, the moon, during the Cold War era. This conflict took place between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. The gang's name came from a word in the Huttese language. The Ur'kossags were known for their killing and robbery of alien refugees located in the Network Access sector. However, a Force-sensitive Human girl named Kira Carsen intervened, defending her friends against the gang sometime between 3653 and 3645 BBY. The gang tried to get Carsen to join them by asking her to eliminate a rival gangster, but the teenage refugee refused their offer. Instead, she eliminated the criminals, thus ending the threat they posed to her friends. Despite this victory, the refugees gained a reputation for being dangerous due to Carsen's actions, which made it difficult for them to obtain supplies in the years that followed. Carsen later became aware of these consequences when she and her Jedi Master visited the refugees in 3643 BBY to provide aid, but she stood by her decisions.

Behind the scenes

The Ur'Kossags were initially referenced in the Holonet section of the official website for the 2011 video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, developed by BioWare. This reference appeared in the character entry for Kira Carsen, the Jedi Knight class' companion, although their name wasn't revealed until the "The Merciful One" conversation within the game itself.
