Urootar was a Jedi Human male, existing within the Galactic Republic and serving the Jedi Order prior to the ascent of the Galactic Empire. He retreated to Kashyyyk and into seclusion, ultimately succumbing to insanity and deviating from the tenets of the Jedi Path.
Being Force-sensitive, Urootar underwent some level of formal training in the ways of the Force under the auspices of the Jedi Order before the commencement of the Great Jedi Purge and the Order's subsequent dissolution. With the Galactic Empire's rise to power, Urootar escaped to the planet of Kashyyyk, establishing a small dwelling along the Rryatt Trail. Living a solitary and relatively unknown existence, Urootar's mental state deteriorated without the Order's guidance, leading to insanity.
Around 1.5 ABY, with the Galactic Civil War diverting the Galactic Empire's attention from hunting Jedi, Urootar was perceived as a threat by local inhabitants. Specifically, the Wookiee named Krepauk engaged a passing spacer to eliminate the deranged Jedi, believing him too dangerous to remain alive. The spacer successfully carried out this task, and Urootar became one with the Force, finding release from his madness and achieving redemption.
Urootar made an appearance as a non-player character within the video game Star Wars Galaxies. This was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony and published by LucasArts, before the game's servers were shut down on December 15, 2011.
