Vagaari pod

The Vagaari race would place their captives inside of pods attached to the outer surfaces of their war vessels as a deterrent against enemy assaults. These pods were well-known within the Chiss Ascendancy, the nation of the Chiss people, where tales about them were widespread. Circa 18 BBY, following a brief conflict with several piratical attack ships, the crew of the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk attempted to retrieve biological samples from the destroyed attack ships; however, no bodily remains were located, prompting Caregiver Mitth'ali'astov of the Springhawk to recall the stories of the Vagaari pods. She subsequently shared this information with her superior officer, Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, who confirmed the validity of the caregiver's stories.

Behind the scenes

Within the Star Wars Legends expanded universe, the zero-g plastic bubbles utilized by the Vagaari Empire as defensive shields initially appeared in Zahn's 2004 novel Survivor's Quest and gained their specific designation in his 2006 novel Outbound Flight.
