Vanahame, situated in the Grumani sector of the Outer Rim Territories, was a moon. During the era known as the Republic Dark Age, this moon was a component of the Odionate, a diminished Sith state governed by the Sith Lord Odion. A significant feature of Vanahame was the Cloister, a massive, planet-sized orphanage. Within its walls, children from across the Odionate were brainwashed and molded into soldiers and slaves to support Odion's war efforts. There were a total of twelve similar institutions dispersed throughout the Odionate. Lacking an atmosphere, the moon was characterized by a large spaceport, beneath which the Cloister was located.
After the First Battle of Skarpos which occurred in 1032 BBY, Beld Yulan, Odion's naval commander, directed his fleet to Vanahame. The purpose of this stop was to restock ammunition before proceeding to Jubalene, which served as Odion's temporary capital, and subsequently invading Sarrassia. Following the Second Battle of Skarpos, Odion journeyed back to Vanahame, bringing with him the newly acquired Helm of Ieldis, an ancient Sith artifact possessing the ability to incite homicidal rage in sentient beings. His plan involved harnessing the anguish and suffering of the children within the Cloister to amplify the Helm's power and unleash it on a galactic scale. However, his adversary, Jedi Knight Kerra Holt, intervened and successfully persuaded his second-in-command, General Beld Yulan, to betray him during the Battle of Vanahame. Together, they liberated the imprisoned children, and the resultant surge of positive emotions caused the Helm to overload, resulting in Odion's demise. After Odion's death, the territories that comprised the Odionate were divided among the other members of the Calimondra family.
