Vaner Shan was the offspring of two well-known Jedi Knights, Revan and Bastila Shan. These two individuals were celebrated heroes of the Jedi Civil War, a conflict fought between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire.
This Human male was born circa 3954 BBY. His name was an rearrangement of his father's name. Unlike his parents, Vaner did not possess sensitivity to the Force and, as such, never became a member of the Jedi Order.
Instead, Vaner pursued a career as a politician, eventually becoming a significant leader during the post-Jedi Civil War reconstruction era. He was even considered as a potential candidate for Supreme Chancellor in 3900 BBY. By that year, he was married to a woman by the name of Emess and had fathered two children, Reesa and Bress Shan. In 3900 BBY, Vaner and his family paid a visit to his mother on the anniversary of her wedding to Revan, who had vanished prior to Vaner's birth.
The situation of Vaner, being born without Force abilities despite having a powerful Force-sensitive parent, would be mirrored generations later by his descendant, Theron Shan.
Vaner bore a strong resemblance to his father during the time of the Jedi Civil War. He shared Revan's characteristics, including dark brown eyes, light complexion, and shoulder-length dark brown hair.
