The renowned Shan lineage comprised notable Human Jedi within the Galactic Republic, encompassing Bastila Shan, her progenitors, Helena Shan and her spouse, alongside her successors, notably Satele Shan and her offspring, Theron.
Helena and her husband hailed from Talravin as treasure hunters. They parented one offspring, a daughter christened Bastila. In Bastila's early years, her Force-sensitive nature was discovered. Her mother, concerned that treasure hunting was not an appropriate path for her daughter, entrusted Bastila to the care of the Jedi Order.

Bastila was destined to have a significant impact on future events. As the Jedi Civil War erupted, Bastila's proficiency in battle meditation proved instrumental in enabling the Republic to avert certain defeat at the hands of the Sith Empire led by Darth Revan. Bastila ultimately captured Revan, who underwent redemption from the influence of the dark side. The Jedi Council tasked Bastila and Revan with locating the Star Forge. During this period, Bastila and Revan developed romantic feelings for each other. Bastila later succumbed to the allure of the dark side, only to be redeemed by Revan. Both played pivotal roles in the final battle of the conflict, eventually entering into marriage before Revan's disappearance during his mission to thwart the True Sith. Subsequently, their son, Vaner Shan, became the father of two children, Reesa and Bress.
Descendants of Bastila Shan and Revan eventually included the Jedi Knight Tasiele Shan, who bore a daughter named Satele Shan before her exile by the Republic and the Jedi Order due to her views regarding marriage and attachments. Satele rose to become a Jedi Knight, engaging in combat against the Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War, and subsequently attained the rank of Grand Master within the Jedi Order. She also had a son named Theron, who was the result of a clandestine six-month liaison with a Republic trooper named Jace Malcom in 3667 BBY. Satele relinquished Theron to the Jedi Order, though the boy lacked Force abilities and later became an agent for the Republic Strategic Information Service.
In The Old Republic, Threat of Peace Act 3: Uncertain Surrender, Sith Lord Darth Baras voices his conviction that Satele is also a descendant of Revan, a statement she neither refuted nor confirmed. Furthermore, on Satele Shan's biography page on The Old Republic website, an Aurebesh phrase translates to "blood of Revan." Her connection to Revan was later substantiated in The Old Republic: Revan.
