The Varada sector was situated within the Outer Rim Territories, and it is classified as a sector. Within it lay the Koboh system, which was comprised of the planet Koboh, its Shattered Moon, the Koboh Abyss, and also Tanalorr, a planet concealed inside the abyss.
The debut of the Varada sector in canon occurred in the reveal trailer for the video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from 2023. However, its initial identification as the Varada sector was in the reference work Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy.
Regarding Star Wars Legends material, its initial mention was in "Adversaries: Characters for the Star Wars: New Republic Campaign," a supplement for a roleplaying game authored by Bill Slavicsek and Michele Carter, which was released in Polyhedron 97 in July of 1994.
