The vegicus were a species lacking sentience that inhabited the bilge areas and storage spaces of long-distance starships. Consequently, they were viewed as pests. Dwoogan, in his role as a cook on the Wayward Current transport barge, would sometimes cook vegicus tails, frying them in oil. These were thought to be a valuable protein source.
