Vhonte Tervho

Vhonte Tervho was a Mandalorian soldier of the female persuasion, existing in the waning years of the Galactic Republic. She was a seasoned huntress and a veteran mercenary. Jango Fett, the Mandalorian leader, enlisted Tervho's services to train the clone commandos during the Grand Army's formative period on Kamino. As a member of the Cuy'val Dar, Tervho functioned as a training sergeant for almost a decade, mentoring over one hundred young clones into becoming skilled commandos. When the clone army of the Republic finally engaged the droid army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems at the Battle of Geonosis, Tervho left Kamino for the first time in nearly ten years, having amassed a considerable sum of credits for her work. With her contract fulfilled, Tervho went back to Mandalore, the Mandalorians' cultural homeworld, although she would later resume her role as a clone trainer during the war, instructing over a thousand of the Grand Army's elite clone commanders in the art of weapons.

Biography

During the last decades of the Galactic Republic era, there lived a female Mandalorian named Vhonte Tervho. She received combat training through the tradition of the Mandalorians, and became a proficient soldier and huntress. For a time, she was employed as a mercenary, and on at least one occasion collaborated with other Mandalorian soldiers. Tervho was known to have hunted a large creature with horns and white fur in the snow during the night.

After Darth Tyranus, a Sith Lord, recruited Mand'alor Jango Fett to be the template for a clone army to be created on the planet of Kamino, Fett personally selected one hundred individuals from across the galaxy to train the clone commandos that would comprise the Grand Army's special forces. Fett chose Vhonte Tervho, and she accepted, joining the Cuy'val Dar, a group of seventy-five Mandalorians and twenty-five individuals from other backgrounds. The term Cuy'val Dar meant "Those Who No Longer Exist" in the Mandalorian language of Mando'a. Like the other members of the Cuy'val Dar, Tervho became a training sergeant, responsible for training one hundred and four young clones to adulthood and efficiency over nearly ten years. She also participated with Jango Fett and other Mandalorian Cuy'val Dar members in the combat instruction of his son, Boba Fett. Due to the highly secretive nature of the clone army project, Tervho and the other members of the Cuy'val Dar were not permitted to leave Kamino until they were deployed with the rest of the army against the droid forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Battle of Geonosis, the opening conflict of the Clone Wars, on behalf of the Galactic Republic. At some point, Tervho became indebted to her Cuy'val Dar colleague and fellow Mandalorian, Kal Skirata.

After her contract to train the commandos concluded following Geonosis, Tervho left Kamino with a large amount of credits for her services. Like many of the Mandalorian members of the Cuy'val Dar, she returned to Mandalore, the cultural homeworld of the Mandalorians in the galaxy's Outer Rim. However, Tervho later went back to Kamino to once again train clone troops, teaching her skills with dual DC-17 blasters to over a thousand aspiring clone commanders. Later in the war, Kal Skirata, in his attempt to stop the accelerated aging of the Republic's clone troopers caused by the Kaminoan Clone Masters, kidnapped Ko Sai, the Kaminoan Chief Scientist. He considered calling in Tervho's debt to house Ko Sai on Mandalore, but instead decided to take the scientist to his own Mandalore homestead with the help of their former Cuy'val Dar trainer colleague, Rav Bralor.

Personality and traits

Vhonte Tervho, a Humanoid female, lived her life as a Mandalorian, adhering to the six tenets of the Resol'nare. She was trained in blaster usage, capable of wielding two blaster pistols simultaneously in combat, and was known for her skill with twin DC-17 sidearms. Tervho was an effective hunter, able to take down large prey on her own. Vhonte Tervho had red hair, styled into long braids that hung freely from under her helmet. She was known for honoring her debts to associates and had little interest in fame or celebrity.

Equipment

Vhonte Tervho wore red Mandalorian armor with black trim over a grey flight suit. Her armor's gauntlets had accessories, including a retractable vibroblade on the left gauntlet. She wore a brown utility belt with multiple pouches and a tattered blue cape worn like a scarf around her neck. Tervho had a pair of silver blaster pistols in dual holsters strapped to her thighs, and owned a residence on Mandalore.

Behind the scenes

Vhonte Tervho was initially introduced to Star Wars canon through a pair of unnamed images of a female Mandalorian in the article The Mandalorians: People and Culture, published in the eighty-sixth issue of Star Wars Insider magazine. Thomas Hodges, the article's artist, later identified the character in the pictures as Vhonte Tervho, pronounced "Fon'tee Ter'Fo," though this was not official. Her name officially entered canon when mentioned in Republic Commando: True Colors, the third book in the Republic Commando series by Karen Traviss, released on October 30, 2007. Tervho was later mentioned in a StarWars.com blog post by Ed Erdelac titled "So Uncivilized: Great Gunslingers in Star Wars," which referenced her contributions to the Cuy'val Dar and her connection to Boba Fett.

Tervho's appearance in the People and Culture Insider article seems to have been the basis for Entertainment Earth's action figure of Rav Bralor, another Mandalorian character. There is no official in-universe connection between them, although Mandalorians wearing similar armor are not uncommon.
