Victory project
The Victory project stands out as one of the key undertakings managed by the Galactic Republic's Defense Procurement Office, specifically under the Department of Naval Procurement, amidst the Clone Wars. This galactic war pitted the Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Through collaborative agreements with various manufacturing firms vying to supply innovative designs to the Republic, the Victory initiative successfully produced a working prototype.
This project lent its designation to the Victory-class Star Destroyer, a vessel employed by the Republic throughout the conflict. Subsequently, the Galactic Empire, the Republic's succeeding government, initiated the Victory II program, ultimately resulting in the development of the Victory II-class Star Destroyer.
Behind the scenes
The 2019 Rise of the Separatists reference from Fantasy Flight Games included a mention of the Victory project. This sourcebook acts as a canon addition to their Star Wars Roleplaying series. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the 2005 reference work The New Essential Chronology identifies the project's origins as the Victor Initiative Project.
