Voegliss's species

A species of sentient beings, known for their predatory nature, possessed a distinctive appearance marked by red carapace-like skin and a maw filled with tooth. On a world not their native one, two members of this species engaged in an attack against the team led by Devlor Samt, a scientist of the Galactic Empire. Ultimately, these attackers were killed. Samt then took in and raised the alien's infant son, Voegliss, as his own. Voegliss was later forced into service as an Imperial assassin in training.

Biology and appearance

This sentient and predatory species typically reached a height of 1.7 meters. Their physical characteristics included tough, carapace-like skin with a red hue, sharp claws, eyes that gleamed beneath hooded brows, and a maw full of tooth, including sizable fangs. Individuals of this species were considered to be in their youth until they reached the age of fifteen years.

Society and culture

Within their society, members identified with at least one gender, specifically the male one.

The species in the galaxy

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, a trio of this species—two adults along with their infant son—found themselves on a supposedly deserted world, despite it not being their native planet. This species was unrecorded in Imperial archives. The two adult aliens mounted a violent assault on the team of Devlor Samt, an Imperial scientist. After the attackers were killed, their son was discovered nearby and subsequently raised by Samt as his own child, named Voegliss. At the age of fifteen, Voegliss was captured by the Imperial Army under the orders of an Imperial Moff, who recognized his potential as an operative. This led to Voegliss's training as an Imperial assassin, a role in which he demonstrated significant skill.

Behind the scenes

Voegliss's species was first referenced in Heroes & Rogues, a 1995 sourcebook for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, written by Rick Stuart and Paul Sudlow. The book features a sample player character, illustrated by Pablo Hidalgo as a carapace-skinned alien, undergoing training as an Imperial assassin. This character shares similar equipment and biographical elements with Voegliss, such as being raised by an Imperial figure. However, given other discrepancies in their biographies, this article avoids definitively stating that the two aliens belong to the same species.
