During 7 ABY, Kell Tainer, who was a starfighter pilot serving with the New Republic's Wraith Squadron, executed a prank on his fellow Wraiths, Falynn Sandskimmer and Voort saBinring. He falsely announced that the pair were husband and wife, and that they were commemorating their fifth wedding marker at the Howler bar while they were on their mission to Storinal. Because of this, the management of The Howler chose to illuminate the couple with a spotlight and gifted them with drinks as they were being cheered and laughed at by the other people in the bar.
The initial reference to a wedding marker appeared within X-Wing: Wraith Squadron, a novel written by Aaron Allston in 1998.
