Voort saBinring, known as "Piggy", was a Gamorrean male who served as a member of Wraith Squadron from its founding in 7 ABY through much of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Genetically enhanced by Tuzin Gast, a scientist in the employ of Warlord Zsinj, saBinring possessed exceptional mathematical abilities, which he later utilized as tactical insight during his service with the New Republic. Following the death of his dear friend Hohass Ekwesh during the Yuuzhan Vong War, saBinring departed from the Wraiths, only to be recruited again into an unsanctioned Wraith Squadron after the Second Galactic Civil War. Upon the unit's official reinstatement in 44 ABY, saBinring assumed leadership of the Wraiths.
Before enlisting in the New Republic Navy, saBinring underwent biogenetic modification by Binring Biomedical Product, granting him extraordinary mathematical aptitude and the capability to speak Basic through a throat-mounted translator. His mathematical skill was so profound that, early in his tenure with the Wraiths, he functioned as a tactical computer, leveraging his mathematical abilities and pattern recognition to guide fellow pilots toward greater efficiency, all while maintaining his own high level of performance in flight.

Eventually, with the assistance of his creator, Tuzin Gast, saBinring escaped the facility and journeyed to Obroa-skai. It was there that he studied the war and decided to join the Rebellion, and it was also where he chose his name. Later, his creator took his own life. His career as a starfighter pilot was prematurely ended by a xenophobic commanding officer who falsely accused him of assault and insubordination. The officer initiated a physical altercation, which Piggy deflected, but the officer reported that saBinring had attacked him. Undeterred, saBinring sought a transfer to Wraith Squadron and immediately impressed squadron leaders Wedge Antilles and Wes Janson with his exceptional astronavigation and intelligence analysis skills. He also offered a simple explanation for why he could not have attacked the officer: if Piggy had punched him, the officer would not have been able to speak coherently when he reported the "assault". Following extensive training, saBinring was admitted into Gray Squadron, earning a reputation as a navigational authority. Piggy received the callsign Wraith Twelve, with Lieutenant Janson serving as his wingman.
During his initial interview, he informed Antillies and Janson that he would be comfortable being addressed by either his given name or his nickname, despite the latter having been used previously in a demeaning way. The two immediately assured him that they would not use it in that manner, as a mutual friend had also been nicknamed "Piggy", making it a legacy to live up to in their squadron. It would became saBinring's most common form of address.
When enemy forces discovered the squadron's training grounds, Piggy participated in the ensuing Battle of Folor, utilizing his sharp analytical skills to observe the movements of the opposing starfighters and provide crucial combat advice to his squadron. He also managed to shoot down at least one TIE Interceptor in the process.
During the evacuation of Folor base after the attack by Admiral Apwar Trigit and the Implacable, Wraith Squadron fell victim to Zsinj's latest weapon, the Empion mine. As the squadron drifted helplessly in space, Piggy suffered the humiliation of having his vocal implant disabled, restricting his communication to a series of grunts. Fortunately, Grinder managed to make repairs, and Piggy volunteered for a daring plan to turn the tables on their ambushers.

By combining X-wing parts and spare equipment from the Narra, they constructed a small transport called the Lunatic. Piggy volunteered to pilot this unconventional craft due to his unique physiology, as his Gamorrean physique provided significant insulation against vacuum exposure. saBinring successfully maneuvered the Lunatic into the hold of the Night Caller and used his makeshift laser cannon, taken from an X-wing, to eliminate Captain Zurel Darillian and seize control of the ship. Piggy jokingly inquired whether he could keep the newly captured vessel and was surprised when Commander Antillies outlined a potential career path in New Republic Defense Force Fleet Command that would allow him to remain in command of the Night Caller. Ultimately, Piggy declined, as he preferred serving in an X-Wing to being on a ship's bridge.
Following the Battle of Ession, Piggy accompanied the squadron back to Coruscant, where he once again employed his analytical skills to anticipate Warlord Zsinj's next move. He theorized that Zsinj was attempting to create a secondary army of pirates to enhance his military strength. This theory led to the formation of the Hawk-bat Independent Space Force, a highly classified Wraith Squadron mission in which the squadron would pose as pirates to infiltrate Zsinj's operations. Their efforts proved successful, and Zsinj recruited the Hawk-bats to assist in the capture of Razor's Kiss- a newly completed Super Star Destroyer.
During the pirate raid, saBinring successfully simulated a fighter crash, actually making a rough landing atop the Warlord's flagship, Iron Fist. Piggy managed to inflict substantial damage on the Destroyer's shields, forcing them to retreat while the Razor's Kiss was destroyed. Piggy narrowly escaped in his badly damaged starfighter; fellow Wraith Shalla Nelprin tracked his erratic flight pattern, and the Gamorrean rejoined his squadron.
Back on Coruscant, Piggy found himself at the center of Warlord Zsinj's latest scheme—the warlord had brainwashed certain members of nonhumanoid species to wreak havoc in the New Republic and assassinate important leaders, thus stirring up distrust. In one such incident saBinring helped save Admiral Gial Ackbar's life. The attack came in the form of Lieutenant Jart Eyan, a Twi'lek, who was brainwashed while on leave. Upon receiving his code phrase trigger the lieutenant headed towards the admiral's office, and killed the admiral's secretary before entering. Admiral Ackbar and saBinring were inside the admiral's office discussing the odd behavioral patterns of the 181st Imperial Fighter Wing during their last battle. The unsuspecting admiral introduced the lieutenant who saluted Piggy and then shot him in the gut. Though seriously wounded, saBinring was overwhelmed by primal Gamorrean instincts and rose to confront Eyan. He shattered the blaster with a vibroblade and used a desk to slam the Twi'lek against the wall, crushing his head and leaving a significant dent in the wall. The force of the impact was so great that it knocked an ensign leaning against the wall unconscious. The Wraith barely managed to avoid dropping the desk on Admiral Ackbar before collapsing. saBinring required extensive submersion in bacta to recover and was placed in the medical facilities aboard the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Mon Remonda to remain with his squadron, which had been assigned to the ship as part of an anti-Zsinj task force under General Han Solo.
Piggy recovered from his injuries in time to participate in the raid on Binring Biomedial Products, his "birthplace." Despite a complex trap designed to eliminate the Wraiths, Piggy avoided serious injury and assisted in the capture of Doctor Edda Gast, who provided crucial information about the warlord's brainwashing plots.
During the Battle of Selaggis, Piggy recognized that several members of the ersatz 181st Imperial Fighter Wing were actually droid ships armed with powerful explosives. By coordinating with members of Rogue Squadron, saBinring successfully disabled the droids before they could inflict significant damage on the New Republic starfighters. saBinring continued his service with the squadron when it was transferred to New Republic Intelligence.
In 13 ABY, during a mission involving Imperial Admiral Kosh Teradoc, Piggy worked undercover as a dancer in a bar on the planet Ryvester. After receiving the signal from Face, who was disguised as a pirate, Captain Hachat, looking for a partner to retrieve priceless work of art, Piggy shouted in Gamorrean that a raid was happening. This, along with audio recordings of other shouts of a raid, caused the patrons in the bar to panic. A fire fight ensued. Piggy relayed info of enemy positions from his throat implant to other Wraith members. When one of Teradoc's bodyguards aimed a blaster at the fleeing Loran and Dr. Mulus Cheems, he jumped off the stage and tackled him, breaking the guards bones and knocking him unconscious. Piggy then made his way out the door. When he made it outside, Runt played a trick on him making him think that he was caught. He got into a nearby airspeeder where he was expecting a change of clothes. But due to another one of Runts jokes he was forced to ride to the evac point practically naked. The Wraiths made it to the docks and boarded a luxurious yacht, belonging to Admiral Kosh Teradoc, where he found a robe and began to mix drinks. A short time later the fake statue Teradoc took back to his base exploded, killing Teradoc.

During the Yuuzhan Vong War, saBinring remained a member of the Wraiths. Following the Fall of Coruscant in 27 ABY, saBinring and several other surviving Wraiths traveled to Borleias to rejoin their former leader, Wedge Antilles, who was serving as a general in command of a fleet group. Antilles had reclaimed Borleias from the Yuuzhan Vong after they had used it as a staging area for their assault on Coruscant and had decided to mount a holding action while the New Republic reorganized.
saBinring, along with Sharr Latt, an expert in psychological warfare, was assigned to work with Jaina Solo, a Jedi starfighter pilot leading Twin Suns Squadron. Due to the Yuuzhan Vong's religious fascination with twins, Solo, herself a twin, had initiated a campaign of psychological warfare that portrayed her as an avatar of the Yuuzhan Vong goddess Yun-Harla. saBinring and Latt assisted in furthering her deception, and saBinring himself joined Twin Suns Squadron, serving as an advisor and mentor in starfighter tactics.
saBinring also helped plan Luke Skywalker's mission to Coruscant to hunt down the deranged Dark Jedi Lord Nyax. However, he and Latt stayed on Borleias to support Solo.
In 29 ABY, as the Yuuzhan Vong War neared its end, he participated in the mission to the Vong-controlled world of Chashima, acting as the sniper for Runt and Estoric Sandskimmer. Just as the latter two were escaping from a shaper damutek with a new secret weapon developed by the Vong, they were ambushed. Despite Piggy's assistance, both Wraith members were killed. Piggy was compelled to euthanize his friend Runt by shooting him through the chin to spare him from the effects of the amphistaff venom that had poisoned him. This event led Piggy to resign from the Wraiths and reject his nickname, due to Runt's death and the fact that the weapon the Vong had developed at that point would not be able to help them against the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances given that the GA had them on the ropes, rendering Runt's death meaningless.
By 44 ABY, Voort was working as a mathematics professor on Ayceezee, and had stopped using the nickname "Piggy" because of the events of the Yuuzhan Vong war 15 years before. Face Loran recruited him to join a new team of Wraiths he formed at the request of Head of Galactic Alliance Security, Borath Maddeus, to investigate whether the then-head of the Galactic Alliance Army, General Stavin Thaal, was involved in the Lecersen Conspiracy. Joining Voort were Bhindi Drayson as Wraith Leader, Jesmin Tainer, Myri Antilles, Trey Courser, Turman Durra and Viull "Scut" Gorsat. The team followed Thaal to Vandor-3, where they executed a variation of the "king of the droids" strategy to locate a secret installation of Thaal's Pop-Dogs within a supposed petting zoo for children.
While gathering evidence of Thaal's activities, they encountered another group of Wraiths, led by Sharr Latt, which Loran had organized to investigate separate leads. Together, they escaped the Pop-Dogs to a nearby installation, while Bhindi sacrificed herself to divert their pursuers. Forced to await rescue by Wedge Antilles who Myri had called, Voort declared himself leader of the new combined Wraith Squadron. Scut, a Yuuzhan Vong member of the team whom Voort distrusted, criticized this decision. He argued that Voort was unfit to lead due to his unresolved trauma from the Yuuzhan Vong War and the numerous times he had lost teammates. Voort was initially angered but admitted that Scut had a point and later managed to convince Scut and at the same time managed to accept Scut as a team member. Voort then traveled with his team to Kuratooine where they were able to capture Thaal. While on the mission, Voort had to dance to attract witnesses to the scene and managed to resolve his issues, calling himself "Piggy" again.
