Folor

Folor was the larger of Commenor's two moons, a frigid, desolate, and mountainous satellite lacking an atmosphere which orbited the planet. In the past, the Commenorians engaged in mining operations on this moon.

History

During the era of the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the re-established Sith Empire, Folor was struck by a massive meteor. This impact resulted in extensive fissures, thousands of miles in length, across its surface, which revealed significant mineral deposits.

By the time the Galactic Civil War occurred, the mining installations were no longer in use.

The New Republic established Folor Base on the moon, utilizing it as a training ground for both Rogue Squadron and Wraith Squadron. Initially, General Horton Salm commanded the base, but he was later succeeded by General Edor Crespin.

Following the Battle of Folor, where Imperial Admiral Apwar Trigit destroyed Folor Base, the Republic abandoned the moon.

Behind the scenes

Folor made its debut appearance in the Legends novel titled X-Wing: Rogue Squadron, penned by Michael A. Stackpole and released by Bantam Spectra in the year 1996.
