The Galactic Alliance Army functioned as the ground forces branch for the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. Originating from the remains of the former New Republic Army, the Galactic Alliance Army consisted of Galactic Alliance Infantry Troopers, along with Galactic Alliance Infantry Scouts, in addition to Galactic Alliance officers.
This Army remained in operation until 127 ABY, which was during the devastating Sith–Imperial War. This conflict resulted in the defeat of the Galactic Alliance by the Fel Empire and their allies, the One Sith. Following its capitulation, the majority of the Galactic Alliance Army was dissolved, although the Imperial Army incorporated some units. Nevertheless, a small group continued to exist within the Galactic Alliance Core Fleet, under the leadership of Admiral Gar Stazi, executing guerilla warfare tactics similar to those utilized by the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
