The Western Jedi Ruins existed as an area located on the Eastern Ice Shelf of the planet Ilum.
In the course of the Galactic War that pitted the Galactic Republic against the Sith Empire, the Republic uncovered a substantial crystal deposit beneath the Western Jedi Ruins. To stop the Empire from accessing these crystals, the Republic chose to destroy a set of important tunnels. Following this, Colonel Baramak sent the Empire's Wrath, Darth Nox, Cipher Nine, and the Hunter with orders to eliminate the Republic's mining machinery and ensure the tunnels remained open.
