The Western Provinces constituted an area located on the planet Naboo, situated within the Mid Rim. Rabene Tonsort, a girl who lived there during the Republic Era, possessed the characteristic accent of the Western Provinces. Nevertheless, after departing to pursue education in another location, Tonsort changed her accent in order to disguise her origins. In 32 BBY, Tonsort took on the identity of Rabé, becoming one of the Naboo Royal Handmaidens serving Queen Padmé Amidala. Subsequently, the queen observed that Rabé encountered challenges in mastering the altered accent designed for handmaidens to flawlessly substitute Amidala, a difficulty stemming from her background in the Western Provinces.
E. K. Johnston's young-adult novel Queen's Peril, published in 2020, included a reference to the Western Provinces.
