Plot summary
In the Endor system, Aayla Secura and Commander Bly are investigating an abandoned Separatist base. After they determine that the base is deserted, and after discovering the remains of numerous clone troopers and battle droids, Secura ventures out to scout and encounters a lone battle droid. After disabling its limbs, Secura is ambushed by the local Ewoks and hit with a tranquilizer dart, rendering her unconscious. She awakens in a treehouse, where she uses the battle droid as a translator. The droid, in a sarcastic tone, informs her that the Ewoks believe her to be a forest spirit. As this spirit, she is tasked with defeating the Beast in the Mouth of the Mountain. Secura, accompanied by the droid, agrees to do so. Upon arriving at the cave, the Jedi Knight stumbles over a pile of bones, which alerts the Beast to her presence. The Beast quickly skewers the battle droid with its claw. This frees Secura to bring down parts of the cave ceiling onto the monster. Having completed her task as the Ewok's spirit, the Jedi Master returns to the Republic gunship, where Bly awaits. Dismissing her commander's concerns, the pair, together with their squadron, departs for Felucia. As the squadron flies off, the Ewok chief, having retrieved the droid's head to use as a totem, paints a mural commemorating Aayla's victory.
