Whuffa worms, creatures of considerable length, were denizens of the planet Dathomir, as described in legends. These intelligent beings possessed hydrostatic skeletons. They were a type of worm.
Unlike the majority of worm species, wuffua worms reproduced sexually, exhibiting distinct male and female genders. A female, when prepared to mate, would secrete a somewhat thick substance that would attract males. They tunneled through the planet's surface, consuming minerals found within.
The Kwa selectively bred giant whuffa worms to serve as Temple Guardians protecting the Infinity Gate.
The Dathomir clans engaged in elaborate hunts for the smaller whuffa worms. They utilized the worm's skin for creating armor, and its dried hide as rope. The flesh of the worms was prepared as stew.
During Han Solo's time on Dathomir, he participated in a whuffa hunting ritual for the Singing Mountain Clan. Nuru Kungurama, Lalo Gunn, the Blackhole Pirates, Professor Groob (along with his family), and the Breakout Squad, while fleeing Plunder Moon through an Infinity Gate, encountered a whuffa worm attack, but managed to escape.
