Lalo Gunn

As captain of the Hasty Harpy, Lalo Gunn was a Human female freighter pilot active during the Clone Wars. Around 22 BBY, she and her personal navigation droid, Teejay, found themselves marooned on Kynachi. A stray explosion destroyed Teejay; his head, combined with the body of a broken Commando Droid, became Cleaver, the sole mechanical member of Breakout Squad. Later, she aided Nuru Kungarama's self-styled Galactic Republic unit, "Breakout Squad", in a raid targeting the KynachTech factory prison. Subsequently, Gunn reciprocated Kungarama's assistance by transporting him to Chiss territory for a negotiation endeavor.

Biography

Early life

Lalo operated as a smuggler, describing her activities as "import and export." Around the time the Battle of Naboo occurred, the Trade Federation invaded Kynachi. Lalo had obtained a personal droid named Teejay and a ship named the Hasty Harpy. While conducting business on Kynachi, Lalo discovered that the droids had imposed flight restrictions, effectively trapping her on the planet. Adapting to her circumstances, Gunn established a restaurant within her ship, the Hasty Harpy. Teejay served as both waiter and cook, while Gunn supplied the necessary ingredients. Throughout her time there, she became acquainted with the local inhabitants and the surrounding environment.

Breakout Squad

Around 22 BBY, she observed two Kynachis, Wevil and Namnats, harassing a young, blue-skinned boy and a dark-haired man. Lalo was impressed by how easily the pair dealt with the Kynachians, as she knew Wevil and Namnats were difficult individuals. She speculated that the man's fertilizer bag poncho was the reason they were left alone. Intrigued by the pair, Gunn invited them and their two teammates, who were lurking nearby, onto her ship. The boy identified himself as Jedi Nuru Kungurama, and the three men were clone troopers from the Republic's clone army: Sharp, Chatterbox, and Breaker. Following introductions aboard the Hasty Harpy, they were ambushed by droid commandos. The Clones and Nuru swiftly eliminated them, but Gunn's droid, Teejay, was destroyed in the process. Two of the clones apprehended a Duros named Cad Bane outside the ship. He apologized for attracting the droids and requested assistance in infiltrating the Kynach Tech factory. To gain access to the factory, they rebuilt one of the droid commandos, installing Teejay's brain system into it. They named the new droid "Cleaver". With a droid providing cover, they entered the Kynach Tech factory disguised as prisoners. Inside, they encountered the Skakoan overseer Umbrag, who was in charge of the facility. A battle broke out, and Umbrag's droids were destroyed, but the Skakoan managed to escape. With the factory and control tower disabled, the clones were able to request reinforcements from the Republic. Kynachi was liberated from the separatists, and Lalo was free to depart.

Gunn and the Breakout Squad journeyed to Vaced Spaceport on a mission to escort commissioner Langu Sommilor to Coruscant. Dooku dispatched Mandalorian Hudu Shiv to Vaced to assassinate Sommilor. Just as Nuru Kungurama arrived to greet Sommilor, the assassin fatally shot the commissioner and two pilots. Breaker, sent by Nuru Kungurama to search the trees for the assassin, was ambushed, knocked unconscious, and bound by Shiv. Nuru commandeered a swoop bike and pursued the Mandalorian, but Shiv had already escaped on his own bike. Gizman, also known as Gizz, followed Nuru out of the spaceport and seized control of the swoop. Gizman and Nuru Kungurama chased Hudu Shiv to Shattered Rock, where Nuru engaged Shiv in combat. Gunn and Breakout Squad arrived in the Hasty Harpy to provide assistance, but Hudu Shiv escaped using his jetpack. Lalo Gunn obliterated Hudu Shiv's Pursuer-class enforcement ship; however, the Hasty Harpy sustained severe damage and required immediate repairs due to the Mandalorian's anti-vehicle missile. Hudu Shiv was not aboard the Pursuer-class ship when it exploded, and he escaped in a lifeboat.
