Wydr, a Human Acolyte of the reconstituted Sith Empire, was male. Balek was his twin brother.
Wydr and Balek were students at the Sith Academy on Korriban during the Cold War era, a time of conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith. As part of their training, they were summoned by Overseer Harkun. Harkun informed them that their weakness would prevent them from becoming Sith or surpassing Ffon. However, he offered them a path to escape: kill another acolyte. Wydr, convinced that this was their only chance for survival, urged his brother to comply, despite Balek's reluctance.
Once the acolyte had stepped into the training chamber, Balek and Wydr ambushed him. Balek, who had a fondness for the acolyte, expressed his regret, explaining that their freedom depended on this act. The brothers immediately attacked, but the acolyte ultimately prevailed against them.
