X-70B Phantom-class prototype

The X-70B Phantom's streamlined form factor was intentionally crafted to mimic a civilian luxury transport, a disguise for its concealed technological suite. Its bridge, protected by the forward armor, incorporated sophisticated and accurate navigation systems.

The interior design included refined wood accents and comfortable, cushioned seats. The X-70B also boasted a lavish central social area, complete with a gaming console and chilled food storage, in addition to a long-range communication terminal. A medical suite was connected to the lounge, with a large cargo hold situated behind it. The X-70B also featured a conference chamber, intended for intelligence briefings and cultivating relationships with potential sources.

Due to their advanced technology, X-70Bs were not mass-produced. Rather, these were exclusive vessels granted to highly trusted intelligence operatives for critical Imperial missions during the era of the Great Galactic War. These ships were equipped with cutting-edge weaponry and cloaked in sensor-resistant material. Their powerful sensor arrays allowed them to scan the internal layouts of other vessels, even across significant distances.

Exal Kressh, a Sith apprentice serving the Sith Emperor, piloted an X-70B prototype when she broke away from the Emperor's authority. She initially journeyed in her vessel to an unknown world within the Peragus system, before being pursued by a fellow Sith apprentice, Teneb Kel. She then employed it to flee the destruction of Lenico Colony Blue and return to Korriban within the Horuset system shortly before the Republic assault on Korriban.

Another such vessel was designated as the personal transport for an Imperial Agent known as Cipher Nine, enabling their galactic travels on assignments ranging from transportation duties to space combat.

Darth Serevin made use of an X-70B during the Battle of Ilum, overseeing the forces of Darth Malgus's New Empire. His ship was seized in the course of the battle, and subsequently used to deploy a strike team to Malgus' space station, leading to the elimination of the false emperor.

The X-70B serves as the designated class ship for the Imperial Agent in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic.
