X-Ray 291

X-Ray-two-niner-one was the identifier for the TIE/ln starfighter flown by Trid, a member of the Imperial forces. During 1 BBY, this fighter was part of a wing assigned to patrol the airspace above Danuta. When the Moldy Crow neared their position, X-Ray and his wingman moved to intercept. The pilot of X-Ray, in a voice betraying the monotony of repetition, demanded the approaching vessel identify itself and state its purpose. The freighter's pilot identified himself as "Dan Drexel" and explained he was en route from Drog VI, carrying replacement parts for the Brodsport Mining Corporation. Furthermore, he suggested that the TIE pilot inform Rel Farley that he would be buying the first round of beers upon landing. After a pause, presumably to verify the information with Brodsport or Farley (or simply to create that impression), X-Ray granted clearance to the freighter, providing approach vectors to the Trid spaceport and issuing a strict warning to adhere to them.

Some days later, local time, customs officials alerted the authorities that "Drexel," the individual arriving aboard the freighter, was in fact the defector Kyle Katarn, now a Rebel mercenary. At that moment, his accomplice, Jan Ors, was piloting the Crow to rendezvous with him at the Danuta research facility. As they made an unsanctioned departure, opening fire on the guards and grounded TIE fighters, X-Ray appeared. The TIE pilot commanded the Crow to reverse course and shut down its engines, while simultaneously attacking it, weakening the freighter's shields. He then arrogantly proclaimed that his TIE fighter could outmaneuver the Crow with ease. However, Ors retaliated using the freighter's ventral cannon, successfully destroying X-Ray's TIE.
