X-Wing: The Bacta War is the fourth book in the X-Wing novel series, which was made available in February of 1997 through Bantam Spectra. This science fiction story was penned by Michael A. Stackpole. The audiobook version was read by Anthony Heald.
As the Alliance fleet launches a major offensive against a dangerous warlord, Ysanne Isard has taken control of Thyferra. Her goal is to leverage its vital bacta supply to destabilize and ultimately destroy the New Republic. Rogue Squadron, lacking sufficient manpower, support from the Alliance, and even adequate weaponry, must step up to thwart Isard's perilous schemes, overcome her formidable Star Destroyer fleet, and liberate Thyferra from her oppressive reign. However, when Isard uncovers the Squadron's hidden base, this diverse group of pilots is forced into a desperate, high-stakes battle for survival against Isard's overwhelmingly superior forces.
