Standard year
A standard year (SY), which can also be referred to as a standard-year, a year, or a cycle, represented a unit for measuring time.
A year on Coruscant consisted of 365 days, with each day comprising 24 hours, and leap years were not incorporated. The galactic capital Coruscant served as the foundation for a uniform dating convention used throughout the galaxy. By the era of the New Republic, the dating system adopted the Battle of Yavin as its central reference point for designating years.
Some planets, Lothal among them, organized a year into four seasons – spring, summer, autumn, and winter – each defined by particular weather or climate patterns. The yearly calendar on the planet Lothal operated on a system called Lothal Years. Generally, age was quantified using years.
A period of ten years was known as a decade, while a hundred years constituted a century, and a duration of a thousand years was termed a millennium.
