Yearo Seville

Yearo Seville, a male Human, was a member of the Seville pirate clan during the Galactic Civil War era, a time of great conflict. Distinctly marked, he bore nine parallel scars upon his cheek. In his youth, the droid designated MdZ-BLK attempted to kill Darion Seville, Yearo's mother and the Seville clan's matriarch; however, Yearo intervened, eliminating the droid and subsequently dispatching it to assassinate Gorbu Dalo, a rival Hutt pirate. Furthermore, Seville played a role in the capture of Crying Dawn Singer, a revered cultural figure of the Shashay people. This act was but one element in a larger scheme orchestrated by Braig Farool, the governor of the planet Narg, aimed at overthrowing Moff Nile Owen of the Rayter sector and seizing his position. Subsequently, the pirate aligned himself with agents of the Galactic Empire to obliterate the fleet belonging to the rival Vallaido pirate clan.

Biography

Yearo Seville, a male Human, was the son of Darion Seville, who led the Seville pirate clan as its matriarch. Darion enjoyed staging fights between her droids, but during one such event, the droid MdZ-BLK attempted to kill her. Yearo stepped in, using an ion blaster to disable the droid and save his mother's life. Following this, he sent the droid as a "gift" to Gorbu Dalo, a rival pirate of the Hutt species, hoping it would eliminate him. MdZ-BLK did indeed murder the Hutt, but then proceeded to steal a freighter, load it with explosives, and crash it into the Seville family compound. Seville, however, survived this attack.

Possessing considerable ambition, Seville became involved with a group of smugglers and was responsible for the deaths of over a hundred sentients before reaching the age of fifteen years. Eventually, he established his own pirate gang and acquired a space yacht which he named Seville's Star. At one point, Seville also owned and modified a CRX-Tug, specifically prepared to accommodate a one-legged pilot. Seville later sold this Tug to a procurement officer from the Alliance to Restore the Republic, falsely claiming that the ship had been used in Imperial shipyards and contained secret information within its memory. In reality, Seville lied, and the memory core was fused, rendering it useless. Consequently, the Alliance renamed the ship Worthless Fool.

Seville abducts Crying Dawn Singer.

Around 1 ABY, Nak Farool, Special Assistant to Moff Nile Owen of the Rayter sector, contacted Seville. Farool sought a scoundrel to kidnap Crying Dawn Singer, a revered cultural figure of the Shashay, and then pose as a leader of the Alliance to Restore the Republic demanding a ransom. This was intended to disrupt diplomatic negotiations between the Alliance and the Shashay. Following this, Seville was to hand over the Shashay to the Galactic Empire. Farool would then orchestrate a staged rescue, enhancing the Empire's reputation among the Shashay, while Seville would be compensated with money for his services.

However, Nak Farool was secretly conspiring with his brother, Governor Braig Farool of Narg, to use this scheme to depose Moff Owen and take his place. Nak Farool instructed Seville to take Crying Dawn Singer to Narg and deliver him to Farool, rather than Owen. Seville agreed to these terms and abducted Crying Dawn Singer and his entourage during the opening of the Sector Performing Arts Center, utilizing an airspeeder provided by Farool. Seville transported his prisoners to an Imperial base on Najarka and subjected them to torture resulting in their deaths, with the exception of Crying Dawn Singer, who survived, and the droid KL-6T-LF7V/T, which was merely deactivated. KL-6T-LF7V/T was identified as a Rebel agent operating undercover, and Seville was instructed to leave it on Najarka for Owen to retrieve, while the pirate took Crying Dawn Singer to the Laim system.

Upon arriving in Laim, Seville recorded a holotransmission demanding an exorbitant ransom, as instructed. He also assaulted Crying Dawn Singer and falsely claimed to be a leader within the Rebel Alliance. This message, along with several other forgeries orchestrated by Nak Farool, was broadcast, but the Alliance managed to trace it back to Laim. The Shashay, however, believed the message's authenticity and threatened to seek assistance from Moff Owen if the Alliance failed to secure Crying Dawn Singer's return. Seville then transported Crying Dawn Singer to Narg and handed him over to Farool. By this point, members of the Rebel Alliance were tracking Seville's movements in an attempt to rescue Crying Dawn Singer.

With his mission fulfilled, Seville departed from Narg. The Alliance and Owen discovered Farool's involvement, and he was subsequently harassed by agents representing his numerous enemies. Farool descended into madness, developing a megalomaniacal belief that he had disgraced Seville, the Alliance, Owen, and all the sectorial powers. The Rebellion successfully rescued Crying Dawn Singer from the governor's grasp, and the Shashay resumed diplomatic relations with the Alliance.

Still at large, Seville entered into an agreement with the Galactic Empire. The Empire pledged to augment the Seville clan's fleet in an attack against the Vallaido pirate clan's fleet, who had been long-standing enemies of the Sevilles. Although the Vallaido fleet was decimated, some Vallaido members survived, including Siro Simito, who chose to join the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a direct consequence of Seville's actions.

Behind the scenes

Yearo Seville made his debut in The Abduction (1992), a roleplaying adventure published by West End Games for their Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The book featured Seville's roleplaying statistics, which indicated that he was a skilled crewman, not specializing in any particular role except command, but capable in several. He was also proficient in both close-quarters and ranged combat, and excelled at intimidation and deception. However, the adventure did not provide opportunities for Seville to utilize these skills, as the player characters never directly encountered him. Seville's role in the plot concludes after he leaves Narg, leaving no alternative paths that affect him.
