The YT-1250 transport was a class of transport belonging to the YT-series, and it was produced by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. This particular model represented an improved version of the YT-1200 and the YT-1210 transports.

The YT-1250 transport was a more advanced version of the YT-1200 and YT-1210 transports. These earlier models were nearly identical YT-series starships manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. Therefore, the YT-1250 shared the same fundamental design as its forerunners; it possessed a circular, disc-like shape, with a cockpit mounted on the right and a laser cannon on the left, connected by a long boom equipped with sensors. The ship's length measured 32.25 meters, and it featured 3 thrusters, similar to the YT-1210.
The YT-1250's cargo capacity was 20% less than that of the YT-1210, allowing it to transport up to 80 metric tons. However, this reduction in cargo space was compensated for by the inclusion of a heavier double laser cannon, more powerful engines, and basic defensive shields. The YT-1250 included six modular attachment points, which was four less than most YT-series freighters, and it was considered to be more resilient than the YT-1300 light freighter. Internally, the YT-1250 was equipped with a Class 2 primary hyperdrive and a Class 16 backup drive, along with a hyperdrive system and a navicomputer. The starship required a crew of 2, could accommodate up to 5 passengers, and had enough consumables for up to 3 months.
The YT-1250's boom was equipped with enhanced sensors, enabling pilots to navigate areas with limited visibility. This feature compensated for the boom's tendency to partially obstruct the pilot's view from inside the cockpit.
The YT-1250 was suitable for various roles, including light defense, cargo transport in dangerous regions of space, and as an armed merchant vessel for protecting freighter convoys. Its capabilities allowed it to navigate through nebular clouds and dense, gaseous atmospheres.
The popularity of the YT-1300 light freighter led to a decline in sales of the YT-1200 and YT-1210, resulting in a large surplus of unsold transports for Corellian Engineering Corporation. To address this issue, the company upgraded the two models and rebranded them as the "new" YT-1250 transport. Initially, the ship faced criticism due to the long boom that partially obstructed the pilot's view. However, CEC emphasized the sensors within the boom would aid the pilot. A new YT-1250 was priced at 120,000 credits, while a used model cost 80,000. Sales of the YT-1250 were initially slow, but it eventually gained popularity among customers who valued its durability.
The YT-1250 transport received its first mention in Canon within the 2018 reference book, YT-1300 Millennium Falcon Owners' Workshop Manual. In Star Wars Legends, the YT-1250 made its debut in the premiere issue of Star Wars Gamer, a bi-monthly magazine published by Wizards of the Coast on September 1, 2000. It was featured in the short story titled The Starfighter Trap.
