The Z-95 Headhunter Expansion Pack serves as an addition to the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game produced by Fantasy Flight Games. This expansion provides a meticulously crafted miniature of the Z-95 Headhunter. Its initial release occurred on June 26, 2014, as a component of the game's fourth wave of supplementary content.
The Z-95 Headhunter can be seen, in many respects, as the predecessor to the X-wing fighter. Despite the X-wing eventually surpassing the Z-95 in many areas, the Headhunter boasted a tighter turning radius. Furthermore, its affordability, resilience, and dependability ensured its continued use by the Rebel Alliance throughout the Galactic Civil War, frequently in the role of close air support.
Within the X-Wing game, the Z-95 Headhunter is introduced as the Rebel faction's starfighter with the lowest point value for squad composition. The four ship cards included within the Z-95 Headhunter Expansion Pack are all valued at nineteen squad points or less. The Bandit Squadron Pilot, costing only twelve points, shares the title of the starfighter with the lowest point cost in the game with the Imperial's Academy Pilot. However, the Z-95 Headhunter is not intended to be flown in the same manner as a TIE fighter. Instead, it possesses the focus and target lock actions, along with the capability to equip and launch a missile.
Consequently, the Z-95 Headhunter Expansion Pack includes a pair of missile upgrades: the Assault Missiles and the highly effective Ion Pulse Missiles.
