The Zebulon-B frigate, a frigate-class warship, was under construction by Kuat Drive Yards for the Galactic Empire's Imperial Navy around 4 ABY. During an attempt to sabotage the KDY shipyards led by Kuat of Kuat, the leader of KDY himself, the Alliance to Restore the Republic's Scavenger Squadron managed to seize several Zebulon-B frigates.
Kuat Drive Yards, a prominent manufacturer of starships, produced the Zebulon-B frigate at its shipyards in orbit around the planet Kuat. Production was underway by 4 ABY, during the Galactic Civil War fought between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In that year, KDY was constructing Zebulon-B frigates to augment the Imperial Navy following a predicted major engagement near the Forest Moon of Endor.
However, during the Battle of Endor, Kuat of Kuat, the current head of KDY, sought to destroy the shipyards with explosives to prevent their capture by the Empire, despite selling products to them. As the shipyards were engulfed in flames, Scavenger Squadron, an Alliance starfighter unit monitoring the docks, successfully salvaged multiple Zebulon-B frigates along with four Lancer-class frigates. The bounty hunter Boba Fett intervened and largely prevented the shipyards' destruction, thwarting Kuat's scheme to eliminate KDY.
The Zebulon-B frigate was initially referenced in Hard Merchandise, a 1999 novel by K. W. Jeter, the third installment in The Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy.
