ZeHeth, a planet situated in the Mid Rim, served as the original homeworld for the sentient ZeHethbra species. The ZeHethbra inhabited both urban centers and natural dens nestled among the roots of the planet's massive trees. During the [Clone Wars](/article/clone_wars/legends], ZeHeth was integrated into the Galactic Republic, and later, it became part of the Galactic Empire.
This terrestrial planet, ZeHeth, was a component of the ZeHeth system, which itself resided within the Dustig sector of the Trailing Sectors in the Mid Rim. Its location along the Hydian Way super-hyperroute placed it between the Malastare system and the Pax system of the Expansion Region's. ZeHeth's temperate climate fostered mountainous landscapes, particularly in its northern hemisphere. The planet's flora was characterized by its towering trees.
In the period between 12,000 BBY and 11,000 BBY, ZeHeth was located beyond the boundaries of the Galactic Republic, within the largely un-explored expanse of Wild Space. The regions of Space surrounding ZeHeth were charted between 8000 BBY and 5500 BBY. During the Clone Wars era of 22 BBY to 19 BBY, the planet was aligned with the Republic, with the Seventeenth Sector Army of the Republic tasked with defending the ZeHeth vicinity against the military forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the opening phases of the war. By 17 BBY, ZeHeth had been incorporated into the Galactic Empire.
The ZeHethbra species, a sentient race, originated on ZeHeth, making it their homeworld. They communicated using the Zehethbra language. The ZeHethbra resided in either the planet's extensive urban areas or in natural dens among the root systems of its native trees. The planet's diverse ecosystems led to the development of at least eighty distinct cultural, racial, and ethnic groups among the ZeHethbra. Those inhabiting the northern hemisphere typically possessed brown or red fur, while those in the southern polar region exhibited blue-white coloration. Around 25 ABY, the ZeHeth system had a population estimated between 500 million and one billion. Over time, the ZeHethbra ventured throughout the galaxy, settling on numerous other planets and establishing themselves as a well-known species.
ZeHeth was initially mentioned in the 1994 The Last Command Sourcebook, authored by Eric Trautmann for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The planet's name was consistently rendered incorrectly as "Zeheth" in the 2003 Star Wars Roleplaying Game sourcebook Ultimate Alien Anthology published by Wizards of the Coast. The reference book The Essential Atlas, released in 2009, located the ZeHeth system, and thus the planet, within grid square N-16.
