Zhari Vaal

Zhari Vaal was a Keshiri male who, before the Great Hyperspace War, held a position on the Neshtovar, the ruling council of the planet Kesh. As a Neshtovar member, Vaal possessed skill as an uvak-rider, yet he frequently subjected his flying uvak companion, Nink, to mistreatment. He was married to Adari Vaal, though their marriage was notably unhappy; their nine-year relationship resulted in two children. Vaal ultimately met his death when Nink, goaded by Vaal's consistent abuse, cast him into an ocean.

Biography

Zhari Vaal, a Keshiri male, hailed from the planet Kesh. As a member of the ruling Neshtovar, he was among the select Keshiri proficient in riding the native flying uvak beasts of Kesh. Vaal entered into marriage with Adari; this union was the culmination of years of persistent efforts from Adari's ambitious mother, Eulyn. The Vaals remained together for nine years, a period marked by unhappiness that yielded two children, Tona and Finn. Despite Zhari's profession centering around the uvak creatures he rode as a Neshtovar member, he displayed abusive behavior toward his mount, Nink.

One day, following mistreatment by Vaal, Nink carried him far above an ocean and released him. Vaal died, but he was fondly remembered at his wake. Neshtovar member Izri Dazh eulogized him as "the valiant young rider of the Neshtovar on whom so many hopes rested." Following his death, his widow, Adari, immersed herself in her work as a geologist, while Vaal's children were raised by his mother-in-law, Eulyn. Decades after Vaal's passing, Adari's personal memoirs were discovered after her death in exile on the distant continent of Alanciar, though they contained little information about Vaal.

Personality and traits

Zhari Vaal possessed limited intelligence and lacked skill in conversation. Furthermore, he tended to treat those around him poorly, particularly his uvak, Nink. His marriage to Adari Vaal, which only occurred due to pressure from Adari's mother, was deeply unhappy. Adari held a low opinion of Vaal, considering him a fool. Vaal's skin exhibited a rich, mauve hue, and he was of a stout and compact build.

Behind the scenes

Zhari Vaal made his debut in Lost Tribe of the Sith: Skyborn, a 2009 eBook authored by John Jackson Miller.
