Zoi

Zoi was a male Padawan who dedicated himself to the service of both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. During the Clone Wars, he held the rank of Commander within the Grand Army of the Republic.

Biography

Zoi, a male who exhibited sensitivity to the Force, possessed a unique physical form: a small, fur-covered being walking on two legs, distinguished by a robust, bony plate atop his head. His education in the ways of the Force took place at the Coruscant Jedi Temple, under the auspices of the Jedi Order, during the tumultuous Separatist Crisis. As a member of an Initiate clan guided by Grand Master Yoda, Zoi's potential was recognized, leading to his selection as a Padawan by a Jedi Master. Under this tutelage, Zoi constructed his own lightsaber, a weapon he would later wield in combat.

With the outbreak of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Zoi assumed the role of Commander within the Grand Army of the Republic. In the war's concluding year, Zoi found himself stationed on Coruscant when General Grievous launched a surprise attack against the Republic's capital. Disregarding orders to remain at the Temple, Zoi, alongside fellow Padawans Iguni and Zeami, was persuaded by Iguni to join the battle. Together, they fought valiantly, disabling several B2 super battle droids, Octuptarra combat tri-droids, and at least one DSD1 dwarf spider droid before Zoi and Zeami sustained injuries. Witnessing Zeami's incapacitation, Iguni, overwhelmed, used the Force to create a protective whirlwind around himself and Zeami, inadvertently causing damage to the surrounding area, including Zoi.

At that moment, Mace Windu, Iguni's master, intervened, instructing Iguni to return to the Temple with his injured companions, recognizing that his actions were causing more harm than good. Zoi was subsequently taken to the Halls of Healing to recover from his injuries. Iguni later visited Zoi to express remorse for his actions. Zoi, while forgiving, resolved to enhance his Force abilities to better protect his friends. He resumed his training alongside Zeami, and they both frequently checked on Iguni as he practiced his lightsaber skills under Master Windu's guidance. Shortly thereafter, Iguni experienced a vision foretelling Anakin Skywalker's betrayal and descent to the dark side, resulting in the deaths of many Jedi.

Behind the scenes

Zoi's sole appearance is in the tale called Evil Eyes, within the Star Wars Manga: Black issue of Tokyopop's Star Wars Manga. These stories, initially published in Japan, were considered of ambiguous canonicity by Lucasfilm. They have since been republished in English in the United Kingdom under the Infinities label, establishing their status as non-canonical material.
