During the Jedi Civil War, Zuulan Sentar operated as an interstellar slaver of the Gran species.
Despite being a common criminal, Zuulan possessed significant ambition, boldly pursuing his illicit trade even within the most heavily guarded sectors under Republic control. He was always cautious, ensuring he was never far from his landspeeder to facilitate rapid escapes. Wealthy settlers residing on Dantooine, including Ahlan Matale, were among those suspected of being his clients. It remains uncertain whether Zuulan's dealings with these settlers were limited to the sale of slaves or extended to other illegal goods, and whether Matale was indeed a customer. Regardless, these activities occurred unnoticed beneath the very noses of the Jedi Enclave situated there.
Zuulan remained relatively unknown until his attempt to abduct the daughter of a Coruscant senator. Although the girl was rescued and Zuulan managed to escape, his inflated ego attracted the attention of the GenoHaradan: a clandestine organization of bounty hunters deeply invested in safeguarding the Republic. The GenoHaradan feared that Zuulan might attempt another high-profile kidnapping, potentially succeeding this time, and subsequently demand a ransom of valuable political intelligence. Zuulan could then potentially sell this information to enemies of the Republic, possibly altering the course of a war or rebellion.
In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Revan could undertake an optional dark side quest from the GenoHaradan to assassinate Zuulan on Dantooine. Ironically, the very speeder that Zuulan relied upon for quick getaways ultimately led to his demise. Revan could either plant a frag mine on the speeder, observing Zuulan's death in the resulting explosion, or trigger the speeder's alarm, confronting Zuulan and his battle droids when they arrived to investigate. In the latter scenario, Zuulan would engage in a brief confrontation before offering all of his credits in exchange for his life. Given that Revan could have simply taken the credits regardless, and considering Zuulan's dangerous profession as a slaver, it is improbable that Revan would have accepted this offer.
The player is presented with the option to allow Zuulan to surrender and be taken alive, an offer that Zuulan ultimately rejects. Regardless of whether this option is presented, the player still gains Dark Side points upon Zuulan's defeat. It is ethically questionable that the player does not receive Dark Side points for allowing Zuulan, a remorseless slaver, to go free in exchange for credits.
Interestingly, Zuulan is the only Gran character with a given name that appears in Knights of the Old Republic.
Zuulan's vocalizations bear a greater resemblance to those of a Gamorrean than to those of his own Gran species.
