The 49-v99 Deflector, a deflector shield generator of military quality, was jointly engineered by Kuat Drive Yards and the Colicoid species for use by the Galactic Empire. Its design allowed for simple transport, enabling relocation between various starship platforms. During 4 BBY, six 49-v99 Deflectors were successfully pilfered from the Empire's possession by the rebel cell led by Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla. Three of these stolen deflectors were then bartered with Lando Calrissian, a smuggler who promised to facilitate their escape from the planet Lothal.
