The 9th Engineering Battalion functioned as an engineering battalion for the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the Clone Wars, a conflict fought between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance. In later years, the 9th Engineering Battalion became a component of the Galactic Empire. Lira Hardin, who previously served as Judicial, was a member of this battalion throughout the Clone Wars and continued into the Imperial Era; however, she departed after observing the massacre at Rampa I.
