The bantha formation represents a starship tactic where vessels align themselves in a single line. During the Battle of the Kaliida Nebula in 22 BBY, when Shadow Squadron was navigating through the Kaliida Nebula, they unexpectedly encountered a cluster of Neebrays. To successfully dodge the massive leviathans, Anakin Skywalker instructed the fighters to adopt the bantha formation.
