Carbon Freeze was a fruity, yellow, and non-alcoholic beverage that contained worrt eggs and shared its name with the process of carbon-freezing. Oga's Cantina on the Outer Rim planet Batuu served it in 34 ABY. During that year, the mercenary Bazine Netal declined the pirate Hondo Ohnaka's recommendation of the drink while the two were having a discussion. On another occasion, the Batuuan human Julen Rakab drank a Carbon Freeze during a conversation with the smuggler Izal Garsea about leaving the planet.
The Carbon Freeze was a fruity, yellow, non-alcoholic beverage served at Oga's Cantina in Black Spire Outpost on the Outer Rim planet Batuu in 34 ABY. The drink released clouds of vapor, agitating the green spherical eggs within it that were laid by a Tatooinian worrt living in a tank above the cantina's bar.
In his book Traveler's Guide to Batuu, historian and author Eloc Throno described the Carbon Freeze as more enjoyable than being frozen in carbonite, a process with which it shared its name, and not causing carbon sickness, a resultant condition of being frozen in carbonite. Strono Tuggs, Artiodac chef and author of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, regarded the Carbon Freeze as a potent drink.
In 34 ABY, the human mercenary Bazine Netal visited Oga's Cantina to question the Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka during her search for the Millennium Falcon, a YT-1300 light freighter. Before beginning his first story about the ship, Ohnaka suggested that Netal order a Carbon Freeze or a Fuzzy Tauntaun, but she refused. In the same year, the Batuuan human Julen Rakab drank a Carbon Freeze at Oga's Cantina while he and Izal Garsea discussed Rakab's readiness to leave Batuu.
Carbon Freeze was first mentioned in the junior novel Pirate's Price, which was written by Lou Anders and published on January 8, 2019. On February 27 of that year, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club and StarWars.com announced that the beverage, which was first pictured on StarWars.com, would be sold at the bar Oga's Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, a themed land that opened at Disneyland Park on May 31. The menu's description reads, "Powerade® Lemon Lime and Wild Strawberry with Blueberry and Green Apple Popping Pearls," with the popping pearls playing the part of worrt eggs.
The 2020 non-canon video game expansion The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu includes Carbon Freezes as drinks sold to the player's Sims at the Oga's Cantina vendor in the Black Spire Outpost neighborhood. Upon consuming the drink for the first time, the Sim automatically learns the recipe and can prepare it at mixology bars in their home neighborhood.
